According to survey data about manufacturers collected by the Federal Reserve in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, the seasonally adjusted diffusion index for prices paid (share of CEOs seeing a recent increase minus share reporting a decrease) was 53.2 in June 2026, compared to 47.9 in May.
Sample. There are 698 data points overall in the monthly time series presented in the figure above. The series covers the time range extending from May 1968 to June 2026.
History. Check out some descriptive statistics we computed on the full sample: the diffusion index hit a maximum of 91.1 in March 1974; it reached its lowest level of -35.5 in April 2009; it was equal on average to 29.4.
