Sample. There are 260 observations overall in the monthly series displayed in the figure above. The series covers the time range extending from June 2004 to January 2026.
History. Here are some simple statistics calculated on the entire sample: the diffusion index hit a peak of 59.2 in March 2022; it reached its lowest level of -24.0 in February 2009; it averaged 21.5.
