Latest updates. According to the EIA, non-strategic US crude oil stocks held in the Midwest were 105,793 thousand barrels on 29 August 2025, versus 103,664 on 22 August 2025. This constitutes an increase of 2.05 percent.

Sample. There are 1,861 records in the weekly series presented in the figure above. The series covers the period going from January 1990 to August 2025.

History. Here are a few statistics we calculated on the whole sample: stockpiles reached their lowest level of 49,148 thousand barrels on 7 March 2003; they hit a maximum of 160,974 on 12 May 2017; they averaged 89,343.
